The Rudick lab employs organic, polymer, and supramolecular chemistry to match the structural precision of natural polymers (e.g., proteins) in materials whose properties are relevant to modern technologies. We are inspired by the detailed understanding that has been gained about complex functions in proteins with well-defined structures. High-resolution tools to manipulate and visualize molecular structure have been critical to understanding complex biological systems. The Rudick Lab is developing similarly high-resolution tools to understand and manipulate at the molecular level the functionality of soft, nanostructured materials.
